Purpose
This project is an open-source toolbox designed to help organizations build and drive their resilience strategies. It includes components for simulating network disruptions, chaos engineering, and centralizing reliability operations.
Security Assessment
The automated code scan reviewed 12 files and found no dangerous patterns, hardcoded secrets, or requests for risky permissions. Because the overarching goal of the toolbox is chaos engineering—which inherently involves simulating network disruptions and injecting faults—the tool will fundamentally alter local network conditions and execute system commands. Overall risk is rated as Medium due to the nature of chaos testing, though the actual codebase itself appears safe and free of malware.
Quality Assessment
The project is licensed under Apache-2.0 and is under active development, with changes pushed as recently as today. However, it suffers from extremely low community visibility, currently sitting at only 9 GitHub stars. This means it has not been broadly tested or vetted by a large user base, though it does provide clear community channels and commercial support options.
Verdict
Use with caution — the code itself appears safe, but the inherent risks of chaos engineering combined with low community adoption warrant testing in isolated environments first.

Rebound | The open source toolbox for resilient organizations
The Rebound toolbox is your companion to build and drive your resilience
strategy.
Rebound is composed of three main applications:
- fault: a Rust-powered CLI & AI MCP server that simulates network disruptions right from your machine.
- Chaos Toolkit: a Python CLI with a rich Chaos Engineering ecosystem to evaluate your response to operational incidents.
- Reliably: a full platform to centralize and orchestrate your reliability strategy.
Usage
Please follow the documentation to walk you get you started with Rebound.
Community
Rebound is not just a toolbox, it's first and foremost a community of forward
thinking people who want to share their interest in improving the world of
software delivery and operations.
Rebound has a variety of channels to discuss:
- Bug Board: You have met a bug or an issue with the tools, please feel free to create a new issue
- Discussion Board: You want to suggest a new feature? Change the behavior of one of our tools? The discussion forum is the right place
Support & Sponsorship
Rebound is a collection of open-source tools. We have elected an approach where
you have full access to the code and all its assets. To make sure Rebound keeps
on rocking, we offer commercial support, just give us a shout.
