EchoTether
CLI for Autonomous Device Orchestration & Human-in-the-Loop Telemetry
Inspired by the concept of agent-device bridges, EchoTether extends the idea from simple device control to a full-duplex, multi-agent ecosystem where physical and virtual devices become first-class citizens in AI workflows. Instead of merely issuing commands to a phone, EchoTether enables any AI agent to lease, stream, and collaboratively debug device fleets in real time—turning each device into a sensory node that reports back state, gesture, and ambient context.

EchoTether is a command-line interface that reimagines device interaction as a continuous dialogue between intelligent agents and hardware. It introduces the notion of Telemetry Loops—bidirectional data streams where agents not only send actions (touch, swipe, type) but also receive raw sensor hints (accelerometer, gyro, ambient light) and UI tree diffs. This transforms AI agent–device interactions from monolithic automation scripts into adaptive, context-aware collaborations.
The platform supports iOS and Android devices (both physical and emulated) and operates over a lightweight gRPC-based protocol called LinkWire. Every interaction is recorded as a reproducible EchoTrace—a replayable session log that includes agent decisions, device responses, and performance metrics.

1. Responsive UI Mirroring
EchoTether streams device screens to any browser or terminal with <120ms latency at 60fps, adapting to network conditions via an adaptive codec that switches between vector-graphical and text-based UI representations. Agents can observe what a user sees without being bound to a fixed display.
2. Multilingual Agent Interface
The CLI accepts commands in English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Arabic (and can be extended). Agents using EchoTether can switch linguistic contexts mid-session—useful for testing localization workflows or assisting users across language barriers.
3. 24/7 Device Telemetry & Alerting
Devices can be placed under continuous observation. EchoTether flags anomalies (unexpected permission pop-ups, unresponsive elements, battery drains) and escalates them as structured events to an agent or human operator. This is not an uptime monitor—it is a vigilance layer for autonomous AI operations.
4. Contextual Awareness via Ambient Signals
By consuming device sensor data (motion, orientation, light level), EchoTether allows agents to infer real-world scenarios: is the device in a pocket, on a table, or being held? This unlocks more intelligent behaviors—e.g., pausing sensitive operations when the device is in motion.
5. Session Replay & Auditing
Every interaction is serialized into a deterministic EchoTrace file. You can pause, rewind, and replay any session at variable speed, and inspect the exact agent command, device state, and UI tree at each step. Essential for compliance, debugging, and training.
6. Human-in-the-Loop Handoff
When an agent encounters an ambiguous situation (e.g., a novel dialog that requires judgment), EchoTether can suspend the operation and present the scenario to a human operator via an interactive web panel. The human’s decision is then fed back into the agent’s context, enabling progressive learning.
🧠 Architecture Philosophy
EchoTether is built on the principle of symmetrical agency: the device is not a passive target—it is a participant. The CLI maintains a persistent daemon on the host, which communicates with device-side agents (installed as lightweight services) called Tetherlets. Each Tetherlet exposes capabilities such as UI hierarchy, screen capture, sensor streams, and file system access. The CLI is the coordinator that routes these capabilities to remote AI agents or human developers.
