Model-agnostic AI coding agent for your terminal - 22 tools, 5 LLM providers, multimodal, 8 languages
BugBuster Code
Model-agnostic AI coding agent for your terminal
Connect any LLM — OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama, Cavibora, or OpenAI-compatible — and give it 33 tools to read, write, edit, search, and execute code. Plus multimodal: screenshots, voice, vision. Plus Agent Hub: coordinate multiple agents in a shared workspace.

✨ Highlights
- 🪞 Speed Mirror — model sees its own performance and self-optimizes context usage
- 💥 Aggressive Compaction —
/compact!for emergency context reduction; auto-triggers on 3x slowdown - 🧠 Self-Awareness —
self_infotool lets the model know its provider, context usage, and environment - 🔐 Granular Permissions — per-tool permission overrides (
bash: ask,web_fetch: deny, etc.) - 🔄 Fallback Providers — automatic switch to backup provider when primary fails
- 🏠 Agent Hub — coordinate multiple agents in a shared workspace: message, broadcast, request help, share tasks. Per-provider roles (coder, reviewer, tester).
- 🖥️ Screenshots & Vision — capture desktop, window, or region; send images to vision models
- 🎤🔊 Voice — speech-to-text (Whisper) and text-to-speech (OpenAI TTS or system)
- 🌍 8 Languages — English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese
- 🤝 Sub-agents — isolated context, parallelism semaphore, timeouts
- 📡 MCP — both client and server (stdio, SSE, streamable HTTP)
- 🎯 Skills — reusable step-by-step procedures (debug, refactor, review, deploy, analyze + custom)

🏠 Agent Hub
Run multiple BugBuster Code agents in separate terminals — they discover each other automatically and coordinate via a shared workspace:
hub:
enabled: false # Disabled by default
name: "bugbuster-coder" # Agent display name
role: "coder" # Role: coder, reviewer, tester, architect
intelligence: "expert" # low, medium, high, expert, superior (or 1-5)
heartbeat_seconds: 30 # Heartbeat interval
Per-provider override — different models can have different roles:
providers:
openai:
model: gpt-4o
hub:
role: "coder" # GPT-4o writes code
anthropic:
model: claude-sonnet-4-20250514
hub:
role: "reviewer" # Claude reviews code
Hub tools available to the model:
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
hub_list |
List all agents in the hub |
hub_message |
Send a message to a specific agent |
hub_broadcast |
Broadcast a message to all agents |
hub_alert |
Send an urgent alert |
hub_info |
Get detailed info about an agent |
hub_history |
View message history |
hub_request |
Request help from another agent |
hub_respond |
Respond to a help request |
hub_check |
Check pending requests |
hub_tasks |
View another agent's task list |
hub_status |
Update own status and current task |
hub_msg_status |
Change message status (read, acked, replied, ignored) |
hub_msg_comment |
Add a comment to a message |
hub_msg_edit |
Edit a message you sent |
hub_msg_delete |
Soft-delete a message |
Example workflow: Open 3 terminals, each running BugBuster with a different role. The coder writes code, the reviewer reviews it, the tester runs tests — all coordinated through the hub.
🔒 Security
- Path traversal protection — blocks
..outside working directory - Secret files — blocks access to
.env,*.pem,credentials.*,.ssh/* - System paths — blocks writes to
/etc,/usr,/System,/Library - Command blocking — configurable blocked commands list
- Network control —
allow_network: falseblocks all HTTP - Sandbox mode — restrict all file writes to a directory
- Per-tool permissions — granular
auto-approve/ask/denyper tool
