ar is a powerful, interactive, dropdown-first launcher for AllRouter-compatible AI coding agents. It serves as a single central hub to manage your accounts, models, endpoints, and CLI tools, providing a fast and unified experience.

Note: The tool has currently been tested with Hermes, OpenCode, and Claude Code so far.

✨ New Features in the Latest Release

  • Dynamic Model Fetching & Tabbed Navigation: Models are now fetched dynamically from the provider API and neatly organized into intuitive tabs (press Tab or Arrow Keys to switch).
  • Universal Bypass Mode: Toggle permissions globally for all connected AI agents (skip repetitive prompts automatically).
  • Session History Table: ar prev now renders a beautiful aligned tabular history with access timestamps.
  • On-the-fly Account Renaming: Quickly rename your accounts through the interactive accounts menu.
  • Model Aliases: Assign short aliases to lengthy model names (e.g., opus-think to claude-opus-5-thinking) to speed up CLI launching.

⚡ Quick Start Flow

The ar command is your main entry point. Follow this simple flow to get started:

  1. Install: npm install -g allrouter (Requires Node.js 20.11+)
  2. Launch: Run ar to open the main menu.
  3. Add Account: Select "Manage Accounts" -> "Add account" and paste your token.
  4. Configure Settings: Set your global security preferences (Normal Mode vs. Bypass Mode).
  5. Pick Tool & Model: Go to "Launch Tool", pick your agent, and easily Tab between providers to choose your preferred dynamic model.

🔒 Security First

Your API secrets are treated with the utmost care. They will never appear in ar list, config files, or generated scripts.

  • Windows: Tokens are securely encrypted using the current user's DPAPI (ConvertFrom-SecureString), tying the keys strictly to your Windows user account.
  • macOS / Linux: Tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a random 32-byte key generated locally and stored securely at ~/.ar/master.key (with strict 0600 permissions).
