Editor with the agent panel

  • Agents design live. A built-in MCP server lets Claude Code and other agents build on the canvas while you watch.
  • Bring your own model. The in-app chat works with major providers, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or agents installed on your machine.
  • Local-first. No account, no cloud, no telemetry. Rust and Skia, on macOS and Windows.
  • Design as code. Open .op documents, Figma / SVG / web import, export to images, decks and React, SwiftUI, Flutter and more.

Where it comes from

Design Editor is a fork of OpenPencil by ZSeven-W (MIT), and we are grateful for the editor it builds on.

We are reshaping it into a focused tool for designing with AI agents:

  • Local-first: accounts, real-time collaboration, cloud storage and the mobile players are removed; nothing needs a server.
  • Agent-first: a Pencil-style workflow where agents build on the live canvas over MCP and the in-app chat uses your own model or local agents.
  • Desktop-focused: macOS and Windows, with automatic releases and a cleaner, calmer interface.
