Public Free Suffix: Free Domain Names For Everyone

Public Free Suffix is a non-profit free subdomain service, built and continuously operated by the community, for the community. It exists for developers, students, technicians, and personal users who need a domain for a blog, a portfolio, a lab, or a weekend experiment.

How to apply

Applications are handled entirely through the Nssnap Community web console: no pull requests, and no waiting on email verification.

  1. Check availability for the name you want in the web console.
  2. Create an account in the web console and verify your GitHub account. Your GitHub account must be at least 2 years old.
  3. Register the domain and resolve it on Nssnap DNS. Every domain includes Nssnap DNS, our global resolution service: A, AAAA, MX, NS, CAA, TXT, CNAME, ALIAS, HTTPS, and more record types are supported. No third-party DNS setup needed.

Supported suffixes

bg5.net
is-a.si
nastu.net
tun.re
us.mw
pfsdns.org

The fine print

If you find a domain being used for phishing, fraud, gambling, malware, or anything else that violates the Acceptable Use Policy, please tell us:

Where did the pull-request flow go?

Between 2025 and 2026, registrations were handled through pull requests in this repository. That flow has been retired; the web console is faster and friendlier for everyone. If you applied through a pull request in the past, sign in to the web console with your original Whois email address and your domain will be waiting for you.
