This tool extracts and archives local Granola meeting notes with optional AI-generated summaries and insights. It operates locally by default, reading directly from the application's cache.
Security Assessment
Overall risk: Low. The automated code scan checked 10 files and found no dangerous patterns, hardcoded secrets, or dangerous shell executions. However, it inherently accesses sensitive data by reading your local meeting transcripts and metadata. While local extraction is private, the optional AI intelligence feature requires you to store your OpenAI API key in a local file and makes network requests to the OpenAI API to process your notes.
Quality Assessment
The project is of high quality, passing all health checks. It is licensed under the permissive MIT license and has a solid community trust baseline with 51 GitHub stars. However, the project is officially deprecated. Granola encrypted their local cache starting with version 6, meaning this tool's core mechanism (reading the local cache) no longer works. The developer actively advises users to switch to the official Granola MCP instead.
Verdict
Not recommended (deprecated and non-functional for current Granola versions; users should follow the author's advice to adopt the official Granola MCP).
[DEPRECATED] Granola encrypted local cache — use official Granola MCP instead
Granola Archivist
Deprecated (April 2026): Granola encrypted their local cache starting with v6, so direct cache access no longer works. Use the official Granola MCP instead — it provides
list_meetings,get_meetings,get_meeting_transcript, andquery_granola_meetingstools viahttps://mcp.granola.ai/mcp. Works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, and Cursor.
Extract and archive Granola meeting notes with optional AI intelligence.
Runs locally by default; the project author never sees your data.

Troubleshooting
"Granola cache not found"
Install Granola and record at least one meeting.
"OpenAI API key not found"
If you want AI extraction, create ~/.granola-archivist/.env with:
OPENAI_API_KEY=sk-your_key_here
Legacy config
If you already use ~/.granola-claude/, it will still be detected.
"No meetings found"
Check date range (default: last 7 days).
