No account. No API key. No agent replacement. agent-workspace analyzes the codebase, writes a vendor-neutral engineering workspace, and connects it to the coding tools you already use.
What this is - and what it is not
agent-workspace is a context and workflow scaffolding generator. Its "team" is a portable set of differentiated roles, evidence-backed repository context, and validated engineering workflows that existing coding agents can read.
It does not run models, schedule autonomous workers, guarantee that an LLM follows instructions, or claim to be a multi-agent runtime. Tools with delegation features can map these roles onto subagents; tools without delegation use them as focused operating modes. The value is inspectable project knowledge and repeatable workflows - not hidden orchestration.

This is more disciplined than a prompt collection, but it is still instruction-driven. Roles and skills have versioned schemas, required context, ordered workflows, constraints, expected outputs, validation checks, and failure conditions. They are inspectable, testable, forkable project assets.

The .agent-workspace/ directory is the source of truth. Tool files are tailored adapters: Claude gets project-memory guidance, Cursor gets an always-applied MDC rule, Copilot gets concise repository instructions, and the remaining tools receive their repository entry points.
Analysis is deliberately honest:
- Detected facts include their source, such as
package.json:vitest. - Inferred conventions are marked provisional.
- Editable recommendations are never presented as repository truth.
- Monorepo discovery reads npm/pnpm workspaces, Cargo members,
go.workmodules, Maven modules, and bounded package containers; it does not pretend dependency detection is AST-level architecture analysis. - Package-aware coverage scores every detected package instead of letting one well-documented package hide gaps in the rest of a monorepo.
Existing files are preserved by default. Use --dry-run to preview or --force when you intentionally want to replace conflicts.

Choose specific integrations when you do not want all adapters:

By default, init detects existing markers such as .claude/, .cursor/, AGENTS.md, Copilot instructions, GEMINI.md, and OpenCode configuration. If no marker exists, it generates all compatibility adapters. Use --tools all or an explicit list to override detection.
Codex and OpenCode intentionally share AGENTS.md. When both are selected, the CLI reports that shared output explicitly instead of silently discarding an adapter projection.

init and analyze support machine-readable JSON. Missing paths and invalid adapters fail with actionable errors. Generated output is deterministic apart from the recorded analysis timestamp.
doctor checks more than file existence: it re-analyzes repository evidence and reports stale project context or adapter drift, with the exact refresh command.

Useful forks can encode internal security policy, deployment procedures, framework practices, architecture decisions, or private roles. Git is the registry for 0.1: extensions stay reviewable, versioned, and easy to share.

Contributing
Community extensions are a core product surface. Add skills, agents, detectors, framework packs, adapters, rules, examples, or validation improvements. Start with CONTRIBUTING.md and the files in templates/.

Project stewardship
agent-workspace is community-driven and currently maintained by @VietHann. The project uses an open roadmap and lightweight maintainer model designed to expand as contributors take sustained ownership.

We will not build an IDE, chat app, proprietary cloud, autonomous coding agent, or LLM wrapper. agent-workspace organizes and upgrades the tools developers already chose.
